AIIMS is a New Delhi based medical college & medical research & hospital facility. AIIMS runs both undergraduate & postgraduate level medical & paramedical courses in 42 disciplines. AIIMS features 25 clinical departments with four super specialty centers which manage all types of disease conditions except dog-bites, burn cases & infectious diseases. New Delhi, AIIMS is the headquarters. Associated wings are in the cities of Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, & Rishikesh. AIIMS has an excellent balance of infrastructure for education as well as patient care. The first successful heart transplant surgery took place at AIIMS in 1994. In 2003 AIIMS Delhi ranked as the No. 1 medical college in Outlook India. It is a leading hospital for cardiac & neurological stem cell therapy. It has collaborated with Germany for training in minimally invasive surgery. It is a ground breaker of successful da Vinci system for urology & robotic CTVS in India. The first IVF facility was also opened up in AIIMS in 2008. Centre for Dental Education & Research (CDER) at AIIMS is designated as National Centre of Excellence for Implementation of National Oral Health Programme & as the only WHO CC in the entire South East Asia region
