Blood pressure is measuring of the force of blood on the walls of the arteries while it travels from the heart through the body. Blood pressure does not remain at a constant level it keeps fluctuating from time to time. Physical activities, stress, rest and sleep and various activities can cause this fluctuation. High blood pressure has high-risk factors such as stroke and heart attack. The higher is the blood pressure, the greater risks are involved in it. Family history, age, smoking, consumption of alcohol and obesity are some of the factors that can cause high blood pressure. High blood pressure can be controlled by lifestyle changes, regular exercises, less intake of sodium, healthy diet, quitting smoking and consumption of alcohol. Along with lifestyle changes, the doctors may prescribe some medications to control the blood pressure. The combination of medicines and the healthy lifestyle habits can help in controlling and lower high blood pressure.
